The Importance of Dental Cleanings
Dental cleanings are one of the most important ways to keep your teeth and gums healthy. While it is very important to clean your teeth at home every day, brushing daily does not take the place of professional services.
If you have not received a dental examination or cleaning in some time, you can rest assured that our staff is highly trained and will keep you relaxed during the entire visit. It recommended that you receive professional cleanings twice a year, as well as any restorative or other follow up care recommended by your dentist.
During your cleaning a metal instrument will be used to gently remove built-up plaque from the surface of your teeth. After the plaque has been removed, your teeth will be cleaned and polished with professional tools. Finally, your teeth will be flossed. Once your professional cleaning is complete your dentist will examine your teeth for decay and make recommendations for follow-up care. Dental x-rays may also be taken during your visit.
Failing to undergo routine dental cleanings puts your mouth at greater risk for tooth decay and gum disease – leading to more expensive and time consuming treatments down the road.
